To those of us in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films with women at the center are niche experiences, they are not. Audiences want to see them and, in fact, they earn money. So the world is round, people!

I feel like I’m biased because I’ve been able to grow up with the person that I love and get to know them, through being literally a teenager to now. But in life, naturally, we’re going to grow and we’re going to change no matter what. So it’s good to know someone, at least at the core, so that as they grow and as they change, you can be a part of that in some way. It’s like, you know where we’re coming from.

I gotta have lived through some stuff. I gotta make my mistakes. I gotta win enough to get the wisdom part and then I gotta lose enough to speak honestly.

To me, it all goes together so well, ’cause it’s all so me. I never had a conversation with myself about ‘Oh, this fits,’ or, ‘This doesn’t fit.’ It was just, ‘I like this feeling, I like this feeling, I like this feeling,’ create a loose structure for what it could be, get together with musicians who are sensitive and caring, and go for it.

There's a reason that the opera and ballet have been around over 400 years, and I think that when you have access, you have opportunity to be a part of something, it can change your life.

Our words do much of our thinking for us; we are necessarily manipulated by them.

Without some blues, ain’t nothin’ happening. If you don’t dig the blues, you got a hole in your soul.

We're eliminating the distractions and debris. No more DEI, no more dudes in dresses, no more climate change worship, or social justice, or political correctness, we're done with all of that.

A terrifying line is being crossed.
