We, sir — we — are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights. We truly hope that this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us.

The powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned.

Sacrifice—I don't think he knows the meaning of sacrifice, the meaning of the word… Because when I was standing there, all America felt my pain. Without saying a single word. Everybody felt that pain.

The court looks the other way as yet another federal district judge casts aside state laws without making any effort to preserve the status quo pending the court’s resolution of a constitutional question it left open in United States v. Windsor…This acquiescence may well be seen as a signal of the court’s intended resolution of that question.

My New Year’s resolution is to move forward on our unfinished business as much as I can. That’s especially true for one piece of unfinished business: our epidemic of gun violence.
