Political Aspirations

- The interesting thing to me about me the release of the POW, Sergeant Bergdahl, is the Republicans immediately criticizing that. We saved an American and foreign policy gets criticized. We lose American lives on foreign soil, the president gets criticized. Are you seeing a theme here? It's politics.
- If [women] really want it and they are really capable, I think they can make it. If you are determined and passionate about it, I don’t think there are any roadblocks. Gender doesn’t matter at a leadership level.
- What’s with the poverty Tourette’s? Why do these two think we need a hobo for president?
- In talk radio, in the media, when we are very partisan…a lot of people will say it helps us devolve socially, and that it lends nothing but vitriol and acrimony to an already heightened atmosphere. But the country is divided. All of these polls are always divided. Capitol Hill is divided. How can you say the airwaves or the website should not be divided? We are.
- As goes Ohio, so goes the presidential race…We've got a full time field staff there now in Ohio. We’ve got full time offices now…This was something that, historically, unfortunately, our party's only been involved with during the last five months of a campaign. That the decisions that we make absolutely affect young people every single day. And that I very much could have been helped if things had been different for me.
- It is frustrating, because who wants to grow up and follow their parents? I’ve tried really hard to care about things that were very different from my parents…It’s a funny thing to realize I feel called to this work both as a daughter and also as someone who believes I have contributions to make.
- I don’t think people care that much, because China has changed so dramatically since June 4. The economy has been doing so well so people have been pursuing different objectives than being politically involved.
- I just am a believer...that there are some things that happen for a reason…We may not be able to really discern it now…[but] given the perspective of time, I think we’re going to be able to look back at this, and what seemed really bad at the time may turn out to be really good.
- That sound you’re hearing is the air going out of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s 2016 Republican Presidential aspirations, thanks to the scandal known as ‘bridgegate.
- I feel passionately about issues, and I don’t hide my emotions from people. I am not a focus group-tested, blow-dried candidate or governor. Now that has always made some people, you know, uneasy. Some people like that style, some people don’t…But I am not a bully.
- The Republicans tend to choose the candidate who came in second place in the last election, and Democrats tend to move on. Ask President Ed Muskie how it worked out to be the front-runner. Ask President Howard Dean how it worked out.
