- There’s a reason survivors choose not to go to the police, and that’s because they’re treated as the criminals. The rapists are innocent until proven guilty, but survivors are guilty until proven innocent - at least in the eyes of the police.
- Please, please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks it doesn’t matter how people are dressed or how they move their bodies - we should still treat them with respect and decency. And enough with the slut shaming. Please. Goddamn, I’m not responsible for some perverted 45 year-old dad lusting after me because I have a sparkly dress on and a big ass for a teenager. And if you think I am, then maybe you’re part of the problem.
- In battle, combatants engaged in war against America get no due process and may lawfully be killed. - If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it’s late at night, I’m walking to the other side of the street. And if on that side of the street, there’s a guy that has tattoos all over his face - white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere - I’m walking back to the other side of the street…While we all have our prejudices and bigotries, we have to learn that it’s an issue that we have to control…
- Jail is just another micro-society. It just happens that here, the problems are far more out in the open, we don’t live with the facades of lies that democracy or capitalism creates for us.
- So when I say that - as a clinic - we were only functioning at 50 percent or less, I’m being generous. It’s as if the whole staff had made an agreement that we would only keep the clinic open for half a day - although our veterans are waiting 30 days for follow up care, they’re waiting 25 days for their first appointment. That was what I encountered.
- If you’re watching this - and you’re a young person, especially - if someone says something that hurts you or angers you, use me as an example of what not to do…Don’t respond with hatred or anger, because you’re just adding more ugliness to the world.
