The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.

This is not normal. This is not politics as usual. This is disgraceful. It is intolerable. And it doesn’t matter what party you belong to- Democrat, Republican, independent- no woman deserves to be treated this way. None of us deserves this kind of abuse.

This is football, not Hollywood, and I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive.

So whether we aspire to be a mom-in-chief, a chief operating officer, commander-in-chief of the United States or a couple of those at once, it’s important for us all to remember that so many brave women before us fought to give us these choices—and now we shouldn’t be criticizing each other for making them.

But when I asked for the same pay structure on the back-end as the male—not the same amount, even, because he was in more of the movie—the same structure, they didn’t want to give it to me.
