Some people are your relatives but others are your ancestors, and you choose the ones you want to have as ancestors. You create yourself out of those values.

Tell them, first, that we will protect them. Tell them that we have democratic processes in the U.S. that make it impossible for one mean person to do too much damage. Tell them that we will protect those democratic processes ― and we will use them ― so that Trump is unable to act on many of the false promises he made during his campaign.

It just shouldn’t have happened… This was an easy home run speech: a successful, attractive immigrant talking about her husband.

Vaccines are to measles what responsible gun storage is to child shootings. The onus is on adults to protect children.

To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation: we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all, and to fight for equal rights for women in America.

I don’t look at them as having terrible birth defects. I look at them as gorgeous. To me that is not a horrible, hideous birth defect. It’s no less beautiful to me.

When I think of people I am close to, I genuinely feel that I can include Josh Lyman, Toby Ziegler, C.J. Cregg and Sam Seaborn.

So whether we aspire to be a mom-in-chief, a chief operating officer, commander-in-chief of the United States or a couple of those at once, it’s important for us all to remember that so many brave women before us fought to give us these choices—and now we shouldn’t be criticizing each other for making them.

I thought that when I was on the floor, that if I survived this, I would be better than before, be someone worthy of life. Life is hard enough, but it is made easier with human connection. The world needs more love. It’s that simple.
