It’s not about insults or taking each other down. As a person who is deaf, as a woman, as a mom, as a wife, as an actor, I have a voice. And I’m using that voice to make myself heard…and vote.

The truth is, I'm really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don't usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats.

The most important thing is that you be a good person and you live by the golden rule of do unto others. If you live by that, that's all I care about.

And then something happened when I was in Venice. I was there with my sister and my mom and my dad, and during that ovation, I saw them standing behind me, and I saw my agent, whom I've known for ten years now, and I kind of looked around, and I realized I was exactly where I was supposed to be my whole life. And every day since making that movie, in this industry I've felt a kind of great calm that I'm in the right place, I'm meant to be here.

I was quite overcome by the faces of those I saw in the crowd. There were people there that had helped raise me. There were so many who had believed in this when it was but an idea, and to celebrate their victory, our victory all together at once. It was a joy.

He will have a brief fleeting moment to celebrate. And then it’s going to be the agony of governing New York.

In this moment of political darkness, New York will be the light.

New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by an immigrant.
