Americans can directly relate to attacks on freedom of speech. They can directly relate to terrorism. And the impact in France is being compared to the impact of 9/11 in the United States. Boko Haram, by contrast, is viewed as a kind of civil war … and it’s all happening a very long way away.

In a democracy, that’s the only realistic path to Net Zero. Consent, not imposition. Honesty, not obfuscation. Pragmatism, not ideology.

In the past, human progress had to come at the cost of the environment. If we wanted energy, we had to burn wood or we had to burn fossil fuels. If we wanted to grow more food, we had to expand farmland, often at the cost of forests. But technology and innovation means we're very quickly decoupling these impacts, such that this conflict is no longer true.

The hour has come for a new generation to lead the Democratic Congress that I so deeply respect.

The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.

As for the notion of standing on your own, it’s no longer considered honorable or desirable. It makes you suspect, if not ridiculous.

I actually hope that one day videos like this and the whole coming out process are just not necessary, but until then, I am going to do my best and do my part to cultivate a culture that is accepting, that is compassionate.
