- This was a moment for Goodell to show that domestic violence will not be tolerated on his watch. This was a moment for the man who speaks of honoring the “Shield,” as if his league were West Point or Annapolis, to make players understand the part of their contract that carries a moral turpitude clause — that being a good citizen is more important than being a great football player. This was not a moment for a $45-million-a-year sports attorney, with no mental-health training in his background, to play domestic-abuse counselor and therapist in his Manhattan office.
- A ceasefire is what we should prioritize now. A ceasefire protects civilians on both sides. It doesn't just say, "We're only concerned about people on one side." I've been to Sderot, I have stuck with those people, talking about those rockets and that indiscriminate rocket fire - and I've also been to Gaza three times since 2009. And I can tell you, those people are absolutely devastated….we need a ceasefire now.
- People told me I was crazy for giving up my seat in the state Senate, but I knew we needed change. They reminded me that no incumbent governor had ever lost a primary election. That changed tonight.
- I...understand that age is kind of awesome. I am fortunate enough to know women like Gloria Steinem - who I think is one of the most stunning women on the planet – [who] doesn’t touch her face. Diane Keaton, Annette Bening - all of these fabulous, fearless women who are flawless - they embrace it!
- I have 233 Republicans in the House. And you've never seen a more dedicated group of people who are thoroughly concerned about the future of our country. They believe that Obamacare, all these regulations coming out of the administration, are threatening the future for our kids and our grandkids. It is time for us to stand and fight.
- There was a point that I stopped crying. It’s not just because I didn’t feel pain anymore, not because I didn’t feel sorrow. It was just to keep going. I mean, it just was to survive, to live.
- I don't envy the marketing team handling 'Don Jon.' It can't be easy to sell a film that uses porn (LOTS AND LOTS OF PORN) as a metaphor, no matter how good it is (and 'Don Jon' is very good).
- America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong. Like, I was watching ‘Breaking Bad’ the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It's a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word 'f__k'. And I'm like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you're not allowed to say 'f__k'? It's like when they bleeped 'molly' at the VMAs. Look what I'm doing up here right now, and you're going to bleep out 'molly'?
- I’ll tell you…why Wonder Woman worked. Or Bionic Woman. Or any of those [shows] really. It was because it wasn’t about brawn…it was about brains. And yes, she happened to be beautiful, she happened to be kind of extraordinary in some way, but she wasn’t a guy. And I think that, [now], they…put out a female hero, and all they are doing is changing the costume from a man to a woman…they’re not showcasing any of the tremendous dichotomies than women possess in term of softness and toughness, sweetness and grit, inner and outer strength.
- I think I've learned one thing about this president, and that is he's very cautious. Maybe - in this instance - too cautious.
- [Michelle] Obama has the strength to make her needs known, and...if she has - for now - chosen motherhood, that it is the role she wants. She is a black woman, free to make that choice. These things are revolutionary for black women, even if some white women see business as usual.
- I’m tired of the naked, raped, beaten black woman body. I want to see an image of black femaleness that alters our universe in some way.
