- Today, Paris is the capital of the world.
- My brother was Muslim, and he was killed by people who pretend to be Muslims. They are terrorists, that's it.
- They say that nothing is going to be accomplished here; the division is wider than ever, so gridlock will be even greater. No, this won’t be done in a tidy way. The battle of ideas never ends, and, frankly, never should.
- Americans can directly relate to attacks on freedom of speech. They can directly relate to terrorism. And the impact in France is being compared to the impact of 9/11 in the United States. Boko Haram, by contrast, is viewed as a kind of civil war ... and it's all happening a very long way away.
- What if Christians were held accountable for their words and acts in the United States? What if every time Pat Robertson uttered another nonsensical comment about gays causing hurricanes the National Council of Churches, the National Association of Evangelicals and the U.S. Conference of Roman Catholic Bishops were forced to parade in front of the cameras and issue apologetic statements because a Christian pastor had once again dehumanized children of God, who are still victims of hate crimes in this nation?
- If we’re going to have arguments, let’s have arguments -- but let’s make them debates worthy of this body and worthy of this country.
- I behaved badly, and I will have to live with that, but my own inexcusable arrogance is not a flaw in the Affordable Care Act.
- The…problem in acknowledging good news - not just for the press but for the public - is that it has come to feel partisan, like an endorsement of whoever occupies the White House.
- We want our country to go in a conservative direction, where the patients have the power; where we have no shame in using American natural resources to create better jobs for working families; where we, the people, have the power and not the federal government.
- I think we may need to call [Obamacare] something in the future different, but it is working…Obamacare, no question, has a very bad brand that has been driven intentionally by a lot of misinformation and a lot of paid advertising.
- If you are against everything Joni Ernst or Mia Love stand for, then this election was bad for you and the policies you care about, not bad for women. It should be obvious, but ‘women’ - half the population - are not a uniform voting block with uniform ideas about what is best for them.
- We want to believe that diversity can transform the relationship of police to the communities they serve. But odds are good that it doesn’t, and it won’t. Given the fraught history of blacks and law enforcement, blue—it seems—is the only color that matters.
